A subset of the Huber family spent a big chunk of the day today at a dog show (technically Alberta Kennel Club’s “Summer Classic”). Mikaela (who would dearly love to have a dog) had been doing some major lobbying to have some of us attend it. So, Ben & Lori, Mikaela, Heidi, Davison, and Brock loaded up and headed out for a big chunk of the day. The Summer Classic was held at Spruce Meadows, a beautiful horse show jumping facility at the south end of Calgary.

So, the above picture is Davison and Brock, posing in front of one of the show rings (there was about 20 of them).

The following picture of Mikaela holding my camera gives a clue as to what she spent a big part of her day doing. I’m hoping that she will post some of her dog photos here on Hubcrate.

  1. The dog show was actually quite interesting; the dogs were, of course, perfectly groomed (almost to a ridiculous extreme in some cases, but I get why). Some amazing breeds that you don’t see on the street on a regular basis. I would imagine Ben will post some doggie pics tomorrow(?).

Mikaela liked the Miniature Pomeranians, the Pugs, and the Chow Chows best.

The little boys found the standing/sitting and watching to be a bit tedious.

Unfortunately, the heat was a bit much, but we found what shade we could…and drank lots.

Davison thought the Port-a-Potties and the “play sinks” to be quite the adventure. Brock, on the other hand, entered with some caution and trepidation. I probably shouldn’t share this, but…he (being short and therefore able to get a good view into the “stuff”) said, “Mom, do I have to pee on someone’s poo?!” My sentiments exactly.

  2. This picture of Davison and Rett reminds me in a way of Layne and Rett when they were little. I think it is both their stances and their facial expressions that trigger that reminder.
