The convention closed on Wednesday, but I have a couple more owl pictures from it that I wanted to post (with Pixlr-o-matic effects applied).  So, without further ado…

The baby great horned owl

imageMy work focus this week is supporting our (that being the company I work for) corporate booth at a major convention here in Calgary. The booth next to us has two owls as part of their booth, which are doing a wonderful job of drawing people to the booth. The owl in the forefront is a baby great horned owl. It is free to walk around the table it is on. When it has to ‘go’, it backs up to the edge of the table – which is the cue for one of the gals working in the booth to hold some paper towel behind it and catch the mess before it hits the white carpet (which happened over). Our booth is a little mundane, having no wildlife altogether. The second owl in the booth is a full grown (but very small) burrowing owl, which you can sort of see on the upper left of the picture. It has a rope around one of its feet, so it cannot escape.
